Each quarter, the Appraisal Institute's Lum Library issues its Trend Report for appraisal literature. (1) The Trend Report offers a quantitative and qualitative look at trends affecting the real estate appraisal industry by examining the topics of recent real estate articles. The Lum Library staff researches recent real estate literature using the FirstSearch database. Then, the research results are compared to past results. Any increase or decrease of interest in the subject areas is tracked, and the findings of the research are tabulated in the Trend Report. There are two restrictions on the reported search results: (1) articles must be available in full text electronically, and (2) journal articles from the Appraisal Institute and the Appraisal Institute of Canada are excluded.
